WWE is reportedly preparing its boldest WrestleMania expansion yet. According to internal plans and sources close to the situation, WrestleMania will now be held over three nights, across two continents, with revenue projections exceeding $1 billion.
The updated format calls for Nights One and Two to be staged in April in the United States. A third night, however, will not take place until December in Saudi Arabia.
This marks the first time in WWE history that WrestleMania will not be a single continuous event, but a split production held months apart in two different parts of the world.
Rock vs Roman: Family Interference Expected
Industry insiders report that the planned main event for Night One is The Rock vs. Roman Reigns in a 30-minute Iron Man Match. The stipulation is expected to involve some heavy family interference, with speculation that multiple members of the Anoa’i dynasty could appear throughout the bout.
The list of names being discussed includes:
- Jimmy Uso
- Jey Uso
- Solo Sikoa
- Rikishi
- Jacob Fatu
- Journey Fatu
- Zilla Fatu
- The Tonga Kid
- Tamina Snuka
- Nia Jax
- Naomi
- Ava Raine
- Tama Tonga
- Tonga Loa
- Talla Tonga
Shawn Michaels vs Ric Flair: One More Retirement Match
Another heavily rumored bout is being billed internally as “The Ultimate Retirement Match” between Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair.
Both legends previously had high-profile retirement bouts. Michaels at WrestleMania 26 against The Undertaker, and Flair at WrestleMania 24 against Michaels, only to later break their retirements with ill-fated comebacks that undercut the legacy of those moments. WWE officials reportedly view this as “one more chance” to give both men a definitive farewell.
According to sources, Hiroki Sumi has been discussed as the special guest referee for the match. One pitch allegedly includes Sumi delivering banzai drops to both Michaels and Flair, ensuring a double retirement outcome. While not finalized, this idea is said to have been considered seriously by the creative team.
Streaming Distribution Across Three Platforms
Perhaps the most controversial aspect of the new model is its streaming arrangement. Each night of WrestleMania will air on a different platform:
- Night One: Netflix
- Night Two: Peacock
- Night Three: ESPN+
WWE has defended the decision, stating that spreading the event across multiple services will allow the company to “reach the maximum possible global audience.” Officials also hinted that exclusive programming may be developed for each platform as part of the partnerships.
When asked if this approach forces the same fans to subscribe to three services to watch a single WrestleMania, WWE COO Triple Haitch reportedly offered little response, other than suggesting that “It’s all part of the WrestleMania experience.”
Industry Reaction
While WWE believes the expansion will generate record revenues, the reaction from fans and analysts has been mixed. Some have praised the ambition of the move, while others argue that stretching WrestleMania across three nights and two continents could dilute the prestige of the event.
Whether this new model succeeds or not, WrestleMania’s shift to a multi-night, multi-continent format signals the most dramatic reimagining of the brand in its 40-year history.
